Growing Tips for the Kentia Palm
(Howea Forsteriana)

Locations:
The Kentia Palm is native only to Lord Howe Island, 470 miles N.E. of Sydney, Australia. The Kentia is a hardy palm suitable for indoor and outdoor situations providing the site is frost free. An ideal indoor location is a well lit, airy position away from direct sunlight. For outdoor locations, a shaded area is required.

Watering:
The palm may require more water for the first 4 to 5 weeks while acclimatising to its new surroundings. The soil should always be kept moist. It responds well to a thorough leaching with fresh, clean water 2 to 3 times a year - together with a complete washing of the foliage.

Feeding:
The palm should not need feeding for the first 2 months; thereafter apply a granular palm mix or a complete liquid fertilizer every 2 months.

Replanting:
The palm is capable of remaining in the one size pot for a considerable time, however if repotting use a pot no more than 1 inch larger than the previous one.
